Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. The appearant size of the planet varies greatly over the years. In 2003, the Mars opposition was the closest in over 60.000 years making it the ideal time to study it. In 2005 another opposition will take place which is almost as close.
 | This image shows Mars. A hint of the polar region is visible and some colour differences on the surface. This was my very first astro image. I enlarged the image to show more features, the real image was more than 2 times smaller.
